Freddy Adu fell off the international radar somewhat after making a splash when he joined Major League Soccer at a young age, but his recent play for Monaco had gained the midfielder more notice.

Defenders Cory Gibbs and Clarence Goodson were dropped from the U.S. roster for a Jan. 24 exhibition game against Sweden. The pair were replaced by Jason Hernandez of the San Jose Earthquakes and Ugo Ihemelu of the Colorado Rapids, the U.S. Soccer Federation said Thursday. Gibbs, who is with the Rapids, withdrew from the national team training camp.
